Dusun Electron introduces LTE-M, voice control support in smart gateway for Internet of Things

Dusun Electron will be demonstrating at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas its latest Smart Gateway product supporting LTE Cat-M0 (LTE-M) technology for Internet of Things (IoT) devices to connect with cloud services via a 4G network, and integration with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit for voice control.

With LTE-M and voice control features coupled with short-range wireless connectivity like ZigBee, Z-Wave and Bluetooth, this Smart Gateway gives an easy and efficient way to manage and control IoT sensor devices.

Dusun’s wireless human-computer interaction solutions include IR, RF (Bluetooth BLE, ZigBee/RF4CE, 2,4G, WiFi), voice control, air-mouse and touch along with products covering smart remote control, VR controller and wireless modules. Dusun’s IoT system solutions include ZigBee 3.0, Z-wave, 3G/4G/LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth-based smart sensors and gateway along with cloud platform services to support applications from smart home, smart access control, smart hotel management, smart bike-sharing management to elder care assistance.

The company specializes in design, development and manufacturing of innovative products and solutions that are used by the world’s premier brands in such markets including Smart TV, PayTV & OTT and IoT sectors. With design and development excellence and core competencies in introducing many technology firsts to the market, Dusun further demonstrates its commitment as a world leader in its field over traditional remote control competitors.

The use of artificial intelligence-based voice assistants to control connected IoT devices is growing. By integrating voice recognition from Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit, Dusun’s Smart Gateway provides not only an end-to-end wireless communication between the IoT devices and users via natural voice but also allows IoT devices to take advantage of intelligent services from Alexa and HomeKit to offer more product value to consumers.

LTE-M promises to extend the battery life, reduce hardware cost and data usage, and enhance coverage for IoT devices deep inside buildings and underground spaces. When IoT devices are disconnected from the local network, the availability of LTE-M in this Smart Gateway can continue to manage devices without losing data, while delivering carrier-grade security and services across the LTE network with LTE-M features and benefits that are designed and optimized for IoT applications.

“Dusun’s IoT gateway is extending the reach of IoT devices to connect with cloud services from the local network to the cellular network. Adding LTE-M capabilities in our Smart Gateway enables service providers and system integrators to provide interruption-free services through IoT devices,” said Benny Chan, chief executive officer of Dusun. “Dusun is also pleased to realize our smart gateway integration with Alexa and HomeKit for IoT devices to be controlled by voice, and I am excited to be leading the IoT industry in adding smart functionality and superior performance in our IoT gateway offering.”

Last week, Dusun announced that it would be demonstrating its new facial recognition access control product at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. This new access control product provides rapid and accurate identity confirmation using video and IR cameras and a sophisticated machine learning algorithm. The product also incorporates alternate access methods including fingerprint, QR code and mobile phone apps.

Dusun’s facial recognition access control product offers an extremely accurate recognition rate (99.9 percent), fast recognition time (0.5 seconds) and can detect faces up to 1 meter away. This product features a self-learning algorithm that can even compensate for face changes from aging.

Dual digital cameras for 3D facial recognition along with an infrared radiation (IR) sensor for body recognition are provided to prevent identity spoofing using photos. This product can adapt to bright and dark lighting with its anti-backlight capability and also provides a video intercom for instances when person-to-person communication is required.
