Why Going All In On All-IP IoT is the Smart Choice

The Internet of things (IoT) has been described in many ways, but perhaps can best be characterized as an ecosystem. This ecosystem comprises physical devices that are interconnected over a network or platform. These devices communicate and work with one another to function and deliver results.

As we all know by now, the IoT isn’t going anywhere but up. In 2022 alone, IoT is expected to yield a total revenue of $594 billion. Fortune Business Insights forecasts that number to  grow to about $1,854 billion by 2028, which equates to a Compound Annual Growth (CAGR) rate of 25.4 from 2021 to 2028.

The best applications of IoT

All-IP IoT is being used in a wide range of applications today. Some of the most common areas where it is being utilized include:

  • Home Technologies

Imagine a home where you can control lights, air conditioning, door locks, windows, and even appliances. Through an all-IP IoT, you can have a fully automated home that can be controlled through any of your chosen digital devices.

  • Healthcare

IoT applications that benefit countless people, patients, and even medical providers come in the form of wearables, such as watches that track physical activities, blood pressure and steps. More advanced gadgets are also being introduced for medical practitioners to remotely monitor their patients’ vital signs, which they can use to provide prescriptions or suggest medical procedures.

  • Agriculture

The use of IoT for agriculture utilizes sensors to check soil temperature, light, humidity, and other factors that affect plant growth. This data is then forwarded to a central processing system for analysis and prompt action – which could include everything from determining when crops should be watered  to the best way to manage a greenhouse roofing system.

  • Smart Cities

There are already plenty of smart cities that can adjust the timing of their traffic light system with the real-time traffic density of the area. Other smart city IoT applications include water level monitoring for flood control; pollution monitoring to maintain air quality; Surveillance Video for security purposes; and automated street lighting connection.

  • Business

The IoT technology adds value to businesses by providing real-time data, data that is then processed to inform decisions regarding purchases and productions. Specifically, this data not only provides more precise market projections but also faster transactions and product deliveries.

Education

IoT’s impact on education allows greater access to learning materials and platforms. Educators can easily reach out and assess their students, too. The use of smartboards in the classroom for a more interactive learning environment is also on the rise. Other applications of IoT in education include:

  • Voice-to-text technology;
  • Classroom webcams; and
  • Electronic bracelets to keep track of students’ records and progress.

Taking advantage of the technology

The implementation of all-IP IoT also enables the following efficiencies:

  • Efficient Management of the Operation

IoT can take on monotonous tasks with machines and digital devices. This means that people can focus on performing the specialized and more complex jobs that require human skills.

  • Retention of Customers and Improvement of Services

IoT enables lightning fast and effective delivery of items and services, which means customers stay happy and loyal to the companies that consistently and efficiently deliver the goods, so to speak.

  • Cost-effective Operation

Installation of sensors to monitor and automate schedules for machines and equipment can save companies a ton of money. Through IoT, exact measurements of raw materials can be controlled through digital measurement and pre-setting of volume. This helps to prevent the wastage of resources and materials.

  • Improve Work Safety

Since machines and equipment can be used to help with production, they can also absorb the risky jobs across various workplace industries. For example, thanks to IoT, machines can be utilized to dig efficiently in the deeper part of mines and oil platforms.

  • A Dependable Image for the Company

Employing IoT technology in one’s company gives it a more stable and more modern approach toward production, market, and delivery of goods and services. It also provides state-of-the-art strategies.

Continuous analysis of IoT-related risks

The main risk of all-IP IoT involves security. Since the IoT is continually harnessing, transferring, and storing data, it’s possible that this data can fall into the wrong hands.

Other challenges that IoT can impose include high electricity consumption, bulky data storage requirements, regular updates, along with gadget, machine, and equipment upgrades (since these pieces of machinery require digitalization to be connected easily to the internet or a platform).

In all ways on all-IP IoT, always

Without question, all-IP IoT has brought about significant development across myriad industries such as medical, business, transportation and agriculture. What started as the use of simple home door locks has turned into the creation of smart cities around the world. Put simply, all-IP IoT has brought about a better and more convenient way of living.
