Device Authority enhances data protection with new KeyScaler IoT security platform

Device Authority announced Tuesday new KeyScaler IoT security platform that converges Device Authority and Cryptosoft security solutions and adds policy driven key and certificate management.

With this release, Device Authority brings to market a solution that combines Device Authority device authentication engine with Cryptosoft’s policy-driven data security manager and agents to provide a single, comprehensive software security offering for IoT applications.

Device Authority KeyScaler offers registration controls through automated device registration and authorization policies for headless onboarding of IoT devices at scale. It delivers end-to-end data security using granular, efficient policy-driven cryptography that provides secure, end-to-end delivery and storage when using third party networks and cloud services.

The IoT security platform delivers automated certificate provisioning and management for IoT devices and a connector for DigiCert’s Managed PKI service. The device group management provides the ability to assign devices to groups and assign crypto and certificate provisioning policies at a group-level.

The expanded IoT device support includes ARM 5, ARM 7, and ARM 64-based devices, Dell IoT gateways and embedded PC’s, MultiTech IoT Gateways, and Cisco IR900 gateways; while its PTC ThingWorx Security extension enables device authorization, provisioning and policy-driven data encryption with secure storage of data within the PTC ThingWorx platform.

The KeyScaler platform also includes enhanced agent technology and capabilities that extend the functionality of “drop-in” device agents.

“Our new KeyScaler platform is a major step forward for the company and our IoT partners who need a security answer for their IoT Application Platforms and devices,” comments Darron Antill, CEO, Device Authority. “With this release, we are providing advanced solutions to fundamental IoT security issues for customers and partners.”

“Following the merger of Device Authority and Cryptosoft in April 2016, we set out on a mission to converge two separate product offerings into a single platform capable of delivering IoT security automation at scale,” explains Talbot Harty, CTO, Device Authority.  “With the release of KeyScaler,  we have exceeded our objectives with some significant new functionality.”

Device Authority has earlier this month partnered with DigiCert, provider of identity and authentication solutions, to offer enhanced device provisioning and credential management for the IoT. The partnership helps expand, and enable range and type of IoT devices that can be secured with encryption, authentication and credential management.

Managed PKI services from DigiCert have revolutionized the cost and complexity of digital certificate infrastructure. These services now include support for smaller, lightweight, IoT devices. DigiCert’s systems are highly scalable and reliable, with the ability to provide support for billions of active certificates. DigiCert already provides large-scale, certificate-based IoT implementations for healthcare, industrial and other critical infrastructure organizations.

To address the challenges of securing, deploying and managing PKI at IoT scale, Device Authority’s Secure Credential Management solution directly integrates with DigiCert to securely automate device certificate provisioning for low-computing devices. Dynamic key generation and data-centric encryption are integrated with DigiCert certificates to ensure that credentials are securely and efficiently delivered and rotated to authorized devices, preventing the use of stolen credentials and unauthorized devices.
