PTC unveils augmented reality capabilities, spatial tracking with Creo AR Design Share

PTC announced Tuesday release of the Creo AR Design Share solution, which further expands the ability of product designers and engineers to use augmented reality (AR) in product design. AR is an essential technology for product designers, allowing them to share designs instantly, experience their product at scale, and better collaborate with colleagues anywhere in the world.

Creo AR Design Share gives users full control over authoring and accessibility for all AR experiences. Spatial tracking, powered by the Vuforia Engine, makes it even easier to share experiences with a simple link and the free ThingWorx View App. The extended AR capabilities in Creo enable companies to reduce time-to-market and product development cost, increase quality and innovation, and protect intellectual property.

Creo AR Design Share helps to define, publish, and distribute AR experiences to streamline product development process and increase quality and innovation; provides control to authors, viewers and experiences to ensure that only those chosen are able to access the AR experience; protect IP by preventing access to CAD data; enabling sales and marketing strategies with an AR experience for a variety of stakeholders.

Creo is a CAD software with easy-to-use AR capabilities integrated into the software. Now with Creo AR Design Share, powered by the ThingWorx Studio solution, users will be able to create and share experiences easily.

“Creo AR Design Share takes a complex technology and makes it easy-to-use and accessible in a way that enables companies to fundamentally change the way they design and develop their products,” said Mike Campbell, EVP, ThingWorx Platform, PTC. “With AR, designs are brought to life in full-scale and in real-world context, giving a perspective that is normally lost on a 2D screen. These AR capabilities can ultimately save companies time, money, and effort.”
