EyeLock makes iris authentication reference designs available for deployment across IoT devices

EyeLock made available Tuesday three reference designs architected for high volume OEM integration. The reference designs have been developed in response to high velocity demand for iris authentication across smartphones, automobiles, healthcare and other key IoT markets.

The modules are self-contained hardware and software systems for iris enrollment and authentication that can be customized for individual applications.

EyeLock’s latest offering addresses the rapidly increasing demand for iris authentication solutions across a myriad of IoT devices and broad applications including critical infrastructure, automotive, healthcare, financial services, government and more. EyeLock will showcase the three reference design modules and other solutions at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

EyeLock’s technology provides an unprecedented level of convenience and security with unmatched biometric accuracy, making it the most proven way to authenticate identity aside from DNA. EyeLock’s proprietary iris authentication technology looks at more than 240 unique iris characteristics and provides a fast, user-friendly experience. EyeLock is one of the only biometric companies in the world to own and control the entire software and algorithm stack, providing patented approaches to dual-eye authentication, an unmatched security architecture and anti-spoofing technology.

The technology authenticates identities at distances of 60 cm, with glasses, contact lenses and daylight. The technology is architected for implementation across smartphones and mobile devices, as well as automotive, healthcare and other edge-of-network applications.

EyeLock’s technology assimilate the company’s proprietary software, security, algorithms and optics, and delivers secure, reliable and user-friendly capabilities.

EyeLock uses its advanced iris authentication for the Internet of Things (IoT), providing the highest level of security with EyeLock ID technology. Iris authentication is highly secure because no two irises are alike and the iris is the most accurate human identifier other than DNA. The company’s significant IP portfolio, including more than 75 patents and patents pending, and proprietary technology enables secure authentication of individuals across physical and logical environments.

Its solutions have been integrated and embedded across consumer and enterprise products and platforms, eliminating the need for PINs and passwords. A biometric company, EyeLock owns and controls the entire software and algorithm stack, providing dual-eye authentication, an unmatched security architecture and anti-spoofing technology.

With the rapid proliferation of biometric modalities across IoT devices, EyeLock’s new technology addresses the growing demand for increased security protocols for devices and the use case applications that powers the world. The technology benefits OEM licensees and the market-at-large, including financial services, healthcare, automotive, enterprise and government sectors, by delivering a solution to mitigate security threats while providing consumers a more convenient way to transact.

EyeLock achieved technological breakthroughs and solved integration challenges that have historically been a barrier to mass-market adoption of iris authentication technology. Its approach provides maximum flexibility by offering reference designs that have processing and illumination configurations that are either on-board or host-based.

Algorithm performance capabilities for speed and accuracy have been validated by analytics technology company Novetta. The reference designs have working distances of up to 60 cm with a false accept rate of 1 in 1.5 million for single eye authentication and a false reject rate of less than 1 percent.

“The biometrics market is expected to grow to more than $40 billion by 2021 with iris authentication technology leading the next wave of adoption,” said Anthony Antolino, chief marketing and business development officer of EyeLock. “The introduction of our reference designs enables EyeLock to significantly expand partnership and licensing opportunities and satisfy demand from diverse market segments.”

In September, EyeLock announced that it has entered into a business relationship with ADI Global Distribution, a distributor of security and low-voltage products. ADI will now offer EyeLock’s iris biometrics products in their over 100 North American branch locations.

EyeLock’s technology provides a greater level of convenience and security with biometric accuracy, making it the most proven way to authenticate identity aside from DNA. EyeLock’s proprietary iris authentication technology looks at more than 240 unique iris characteristics and provides a fast, user-friendly experience.
