Digi-Key Electronics, a global electronic components distributor, announced this week a partnership with RevX to offer cellular connectivity services for several tier-1 wireless carriers, including, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Vodafone, with Verizon coming very soon.
Customers now have the ability to purchase SIM cards and select the data plan that fits the needs of their application. This is offered via a simple-to-use data plan portal.
The data plans complement Digi-Key’s offering of cellular modules, modems, and gateways, furthering the company’s initiative of being a one-stop-shop for Internet of Things (IoT) resources, products, and solutions.
Digi-Key aims to provide a path to create end-to-end IoT solutions. These data plans complement Digi-Key’s offering of cellular modules, modems and gateways, and offer users a fast and simple way to get connected with these devices.
“We look forward to serving the Digi-Key community and simplifying the process of connecting their cellular M2M/IoT devices to domestic and international network providers,” said John D’Angelo, CEO of RevX Systems. “Activating your Digi-Key IoT equipment has never been easier!”
“Our goal is to provide a path to create end-to-end IoT solutions by giving product managers and engineers the ability to purchase data plans with their cellular devices, a simple to use website, and a huge selection of cellular devices these data plans can be associated with,” said Robbie Paul, Strategic Program Development Director – IoT at Digi-Key. “Digi-Key is committed to helping customers navigate the abundance of choices and find the best solutions for their applications and use-cases.”
Digi-Key also announced last month in a bid to strengthen their offering of Industrial Automation (IA) components, enhancing design and project capabilities in countless IA applications. The company has added over 14,000+ Industrial Automation part numbers to their portfolio in categories such as sensors, cables, safety devices, control monitors, relays, timers, switches, lighting, and controllers, among others.
Aside from the product lines from Digi-Key’s traditional suppliers such as OMRON, TE, Panasonic, Molex, and others, the company has added 15 new lines and in the past year, including products from Altech, SICK, IDEC, Carlo Gavazzi, and Belden.
“Digi-Key aims to be the industry leader and single source for IA products and solutions for customers all over the world,” said Eric Wendt, Strategic Program Development Director – Industrial Automation at Digi-Key. “Industrial Automation is a vast industry that complements our current offering and plays a critical part in building automation, factories, Industry 4.0, and more. We want to partner with designers and purchasers in these application areas to help enable the innovation and functionality of their systems, processes, and machinery.”
