Cubic Telecom enables IoT connectivity services in the Audi Q8 luxury SUV

Cubic Telecom announced on Tuesday that it is providing its connectivity management solution for the new top-of-the-line Audi Q8 across Europe. This top-of-the-Q-line model is brand new to Audi, and is now available to order in the European market.

Combining the elegance of a four-door luxury coupe and the convenience and versatility of a large SUV, the Audi Q8 is among the most technologically advanced and luxurious production vehicles set to be available on the market.

Cubic creates connectivity where there was none before, with a belief in the future of things: a future where everything is connected. Cubic’s vision of interconnectivity will improve lives. Clients which also believe in this work include Audi, Volkswagen, Panasonic, Rakuten and Woolworths.

Based in Dublin Ireland, Cubic Telecom’s partners and customers include several tablet and notebook manufacturers, retailers, and M2M and automotive companies. The company is privately held with over €75 million in funding by Audi Electronics Venture GmbH, Qualcomm, Valid, Enterprise Ireland and the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, among others.

Drivers of the Q8 can enjoy reliable and secure up-to-date information and entertainment integrated with the Audi Virtual Cockpit, and advanced internet connectivity, powered by Cubic. With an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot and connected infotainment services, drivers of the Audi Q8 have access to navigation, route guidance and mapping, as well as personal apps such as digital radio and music streaming.

Cubic’s connectivity is available in a multitude of Audi models around the world, including the A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q2, Q5, Q7 and now the Q8. Cubic is powering approximately 1.5 million cars and will soon be rolling out its connected-car service in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

“As the automotive industry undergoes a shift in focus towards integrating connectivity as part of its customer value proposition, Audi is well-known globally for its forward-thinking and innovative work in intelligent driving. We are proud that Audi has chosen Cubic to power the incredible, all-new Q8 with our seamless connected car services,” said Barry Napier, CEO of Cubic Telecom.
