Cubic releases FirstNet Band 14 certified radio gateway offering; certified for use on the AT&T and 4G LTE networks

Cubic Corp. announced Monday that its Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS) business division’s Vocality Radio over IP (RoIP) gateway is the initial RoIP solution to receive First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Band 14 certification. The Cubic | Vocality radio over IP (RoIP) gateway recently helped provide Global DIRT disaster response with Radio and internet connectivity, allowing team coordination between different sites in the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian.

Designed to provide interoperability between disparate communication networks, the certified FirstNet Vocality RoIP provides a rapidly deployable and easy-to-use bridge between existing Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks and the FirstNet LTE based Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) system.

Cubic | Vocality has launched a new expansion module for the Vocality Radio over IP (RoIP). The RoIP Connect is a simple-to-use and easy-to-install expansion module that adds an additional four audio ports, four serial ports and a general-purpose input/output (GPIO) to the Vocality RoIP through a single USB connection.

Compatible with a range of dispatch and PoC apps, the Vocality RoIP is the only RoIP gateway that supports the latest Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption to deliver secure standards-based tunnelling across commercial 4G LTE and dedicated first responder networks. TLS, combined with LTE over-the-air encryption, provides confidence that Push-to-Talk communications remain private.

Suitable for use in a wide range of markets including emergency services, disaster response, rail and energy production, the Vocality RoIP is the ideal solution for users looking for secure Push-to-Talk interoperability and Wide Area Networking in a single palm-sized, power-efficient solution.

Connectivity to 4G LTE networks, fixed-line and satellite services means Vocality RoIP users can create and extend radio networks beyond the normal Push-to-Talk radio range.

“Adding FirstNet Band 14 certification to our increasing list of cellular network approvals demonstrates Cubic’s commitment to serving our customers with interoperability solutions they can trust and rely on,” says Mike Barthlow, senior vice president and general manager of Rugged Internet of Things, Cubic Mission Solutions.

Earlier this month, Cubic launched a highly rugged, small form factor graphics processing unit (GPU) module designed to enable artificial intelligence and high-performance analytics at the extreme tactical edge. Powered by dual NVIDIA GPU’s, the M3-SE-GPU delivers class-leading performance in a low power, compact and transportable solution.

High throughput Ethernet connections combined with the dual processors enable parallel processing of distinct data streams, boosting throughput and allowing basic clustering operations.

The integrated deep learning engine and support for the NVIDIA JetPack SDK make the module ideal for artificial intelligence, machine learning applications and neural network development.
