Vigilent

Vigilent applies IoT and AI to dynamically optimize the health, comfort, energy consumption and carbon emissions of buildings and enable their autonomous operation.

Vigilent’s traditional focus has been a turnkey IoT product, the Dynamic Cooling Management System, that optimizes cooling and energy use in mission critical facilities such as data centers and telecom facilities. The system enables these facilities to operate autonomously, safely and efficiently.

Now the company can also deliver Vigilent for Buildings, which extends the use of IoT and AI to dynamically optimize the health, comfort, energy use and carbon emissions of large buildings with human occupants.

In the age of Covid-19, the software optimizes a ventilation metric called Non-Infectious Air Delivery Equivalent (NIADE) that was developed as part of Vigilent’s participation in ASHRAE’s Epidemic Task Force. Vigilent for Buildings helps educational, commercial and government buildings reduce the risk of viral infection, which is the biggest problem that the real estate industry has faced in over 100 years.

Vigilent for Buildings delivers several crucial benefits:

Makes buildings healthier

  • Many organizations require that people come together in order to be productive, e.g. K-12 schools and universities, commercial office and government buildings, indoor athletic facilities and arenas. By reducing the risk associated with Covid-19, influenza and other pathogens, Vigilent is helping people to safely re-occupy these facilities.

Makes occupants more productive

  • Research has consistently shown that workers do their jobs better, and students are better learners, in buildings operating within a comfortable temperature range, with adequate ventilation and good indoor air quality (IAQ). Vigilent for Buildings deployments show a reduction in hot and cold zones, improved ventilation, and the ability to monitor and if necessary take automatic control actions to improve IAQ.

Fights climate change

  • Vigilent is already reducing carbon emissions by 250,000 metric tons per annum, and this impact is accelerating with Vigilent for Buildings. We expect that Vigilent for Buildings, plus future application of IoT and AI to industrial facilities (e.g. food processing and storage, indoor agriculture, pharmaceutical production) will increase Vigilent’s impact to at least 5 million metric tons of carbon reduction per annum by 2030.
